Taichung Veterans General Hospital Builds a Next-Generation Smart Operating Room with Twin Beans
Taichung Veterans General Hospital (TCVGH) has implemented Twin Beans’ Smart Healthcare Solutions to establish a new generation of intelligent operating rooms. With the addition of a third hybrid operating room in its Emergency Building, the hospital has integrated imaging and clinical data across three neurosurgical operating rooms, creating a centralized core for surgical image and information management.
Surgical cases are recorded through a dynamic medical imaging recording system, with key images captured and uploaded to the hospital’s PACS via DICOM, ensuring seamless alignment with existing clinical workflows. Through a centralized imaging management platform, physicians can remotely manage cases, review archived studies, and access real-time operating room feeds. Surgeons can retrieve prior cases directly within the OR for reference, while also conducting case reviews and research from their offices.
The hybrid operating rooms are equipped with a remote collaboration system that enables one-touch live surgery broadcasting, facilitating real-time consultation, cross-institutional collaboration, and mentorship for junior surgeons—without geographic or time constraints.
As hybrid operating rooms become integral to modern healthcare, one-stop surgical environments help reduce patient transfers and lower anesthesia and infection risks. However, the increasing complexity of imaging and data integration presents new challenges.
